Given the post-Christian Protestant American culture of Portland it was suggested to me that clerical collar evangelism might not work in that particular cultural context. This wasn't the case yesterday when I was exploring the massive theology section of Powell's Books (one of the largest book shops in the world).
Two guys initiated chatting to me saying that they liked my accent. They later came to find me in the Bible section to continue the conversation which I took to issues of faith.
The guy on the left believed that God existed but wasn't part of any church. He prayed to receive Christ for the first time.
The guy on the right was until a year ago completely unchurched but contacted a church and became a Christian because he felt empty and directionless in life. As I prayed for him he said "I feel peace and hope".
