Full-time Evangelist

I’ve been working full-time as an evangelist for three years now travelling widely across the United Kingdom and overseas and speaking for nearly every denomination & stream.
Such travel is a great privilege but also a great sacrifice but it’s more than worth it when I see people come to Christ (which I get to do on a weekly basis). Another privilege is getting to train Christians in evangelism and release evangelists in their calling.
Along with others, I’m noticing a change in the spiritual temperature in the UK. The ‘new atheism’ is dead (apart from rarefied environments like Oxford) and the pandemic of hopelessness has led to a new openness to the spiritual.
Perhaps it’s particularly noticeable among young people. Only 1% of students and youth are regularly part of any church and people sometimes think they are unreachable and yet it’s my privilege to lead unchurched young people to Christ on a regular basis.
This desire for spiritual reality can easily be misdirected to something other than the wonderful Gospel of the love of God in Christ Jesus.
So there is an urgent need for the Church to go with the Gospel and proclaim it boldly by lip & life.
Yet so often the church is in maintenance and not mission mode, embroiled with internal battles and concerned with a domestic agenda.
I was inspired by this quotation from William booth this morning (the nested image is of a bust of Booth on my desk in my office in Wesley House)
I’ve often prayed “Lord make me a one man walking revival Centre”. This is not indicative of a maverick individualism (I want to work collegiately and collaboratively) but a heartfelt desire to see the kingdom of God break-in and for me to walk in revival personally even if I don’t see it on a wider canvas (as yet).
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (Matt 9:37).
Not much has changed in 2000 years!
I’m determined to spend my life being part of “the few” and raising up radical revivalists to do the same.
Arise Church and be who you are called to be that the Lamb of God might get what He paid for !
