It was a privilege to spend the day yesterday with key leaders from the Christian Missionary Alliance from the USA.
Dr Monty C Wright is the District Superintendent (Bishop) of Alliance NW (and oversees churches in the pacific north west of the US including Alaska). With him was the Rev Steve Fowler, his Director of Church Revitalization. From the other side of the US was the Rev Kim Valenzuela, Director of Revitalization and Multiplication in the Metro area of the C&MA (the New York metropolitan area of the US).
It was an honour that they have travelled so far to spend two days with me in Oxford. Yesterday, we spent the morning in conversation and I led an interactive seminar on "reaching millennials with the Gospel in a post Christian paradigm".
Lunch followed (at the Ivy in Oxford) and part one of a Christian history tour of Oxford. This walking tour started with a jazz recital in Pembroke College chapel and ended with the choral evensong at Christ Church Cathedral (led by my friend the Sub Dean Canon Peter Moger).
The second and final day of the Oxford CM&A Leaders Forum.
In the morning after leading a devotional I did a seminar on "the world of the evangelist" (looking at how the Gospel interfaces with contemporary culture).
After lunch we had part II of the walking tour based at Christ Church, Oxford.
We concluded with a champagne afternoon tea at the Randolph at which I gave a paper on "the new apologetics".
